Marta Horton - Partner
Marta has over 20 years’ experience in a variety of industries, in the US and abroad, including restaurants, food and beverage, technology, construction, manufacturing, and medical services. Marta counsels individuals as well as small and large companies on a range of corporate matters including labor and employment, franchising, data security and data privacy, contracts, business formation, litigation and dispute resolution. Marta also acts as outside general counsel for privately held companies.
Marta started her legal career in Mexico in 1999 representing American and European companies looking to invest in Mexico after NAFTA went into effect, guiding them through the realities of different laws and business practices of a foreign country including working with Unions and negotiating CBAs. Marta moved back to the US, choosing Colorado as her home base where she became an HR Director for a national company for several years prior to attending law school again. After law school, Marta’s practice in Colorado shifted from a corporate background to litigation where she represented clients in complex commercial litigation and employment matters.
Prior to joining Fisher Hudson Brown Horton, Marta worked in-house as Deputy General Counsel for a restaurant management company owning and operating over 600 franchised restaurants with a national and international footprint gaining invaluable experience and a keen sense for balancing the law with business needs.
In her free time, Marta enjoys spending time with her son, exploring Idaho’s outside beauty, kayaking and hiking in the summer and snowshoeing in the winter.
